Avast and AVG

Will Avast work with AVG I have Windows xp and when i start up i get message from Avast tell me cant run two items ?
can i stop this message and still keep both programs ?

This one has an easy answer. No way will your computer run with two anti-virus programs. They definately conflict. Choose one or the other. We of course would like you to use avast! and join us here on the forum. Let me be the first to welcome you to avast!

There are a few cases where two anti virus programs will work together, as long as you totally disable the on - access protection of one and use it as on-demand only.  I believe Avast! and AVG is one of these combinations, Avast! / Norton will not work.

In fact, after reading the board I can say that:
1. AVG 6.0 (free) and 7.0 work with avast in Windows 98 and Millenium
1. AVG 6.0 (free) does not work with avast in Windows XP/2k. In some XP systems, AVG 7.0 worked with avast... I could not configurate both of them to work  :-\
