Windows 7 update problem
« on: April 07, 2011, 02:30:15 PM »
I have installed Avast 6.0 free antivirus on my Windows 7 ultimate SP 1 machine. Windows update gives error code 8024402F which apparently could be due to a firewall blocking the internet connection attempted by Windows Update. Can anyone please describe how I can ascertain if Avast product is actually doing this and if so, how to temporarily or permanently change that?
Thanks and best regards

avast free does not have a firewall, it's an antivirus only.
Which is your previous antivirus or other security program? Other firewall?

Shouldn't have a problem with upgrading to SP1 then...
I suppose you're not downloading the .iso file but directly updating through Windows Update.
Googling 8024402F hit a lot of other users and Windows Update problems ::)

I know it's for vista, but just read it anyway.  It's likely that you have a couple errors and a SFC or live onecare check will fix them.
