But if the problem occurs only in your computer...
I have no hourglass in both Windows 7 and XP... And for sure they don't have any also... Otherwise they will have fight to solve it.

How old is the computer/laptop? In my opinion, a laptop or desktop (especially the desktop)should be 10 years plus before being replaced with a new updated computer with new hardware and/or software.

How many "Processes" are running and what other programs are running and how much memory is being used?  I don't recall you mentioning what Browser you are using.   How is Windows set to handle the cache and how much cache is being used.

You do realize that Avast was not designed to be the only program running on a computer. :)

Given the nature of your problem as you have presented it along with the fact that you are using XP with only 1GB or RAM knowing the answer to the above questions might be helpful in solving your problem, since it appears that it could be a computer geriatric problem.

It might be worth reducing the number of startups as the following add nothing to your system by starting with it

POP Peeper (notifier and reader e-mail)
PerfectDisk 2008 (defragmenter, services)
InCD (Nero, services)
TuneUp (services)
Adobe Reader (services)

disPlay

According to you log File you are using windows XP SP2.
But you said that you are using SP3 verify this statement please.

Upgrade to Windows XP SP3, as you are running and outdated version of your OS.

These processes are performed only in specific moments and do not consume much memory.

Part of SP3 already installed

True but they are starting at the same time as Avast so they will be using the registry/file system
