Avast Update Http server error 407
« on: April 12, 2011, 10:35:29 AM »
Hi,

I'm new to avast, I downloaded the free avast version 6.0.1000 maybe a week ago, and have performed full scans etc. everything seems to be working. However, it tells me that I need to update it, but whenever I click the "update" it times out after 2-4 seconds saying "Http server error 407". I have no idea what this means - I tried googling it and I tried turning my firewall off, but nothing seems to work. I'm afraid I'm in the dark.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks for the tip! But where do I set it to direct connection? Am searching through the programme and cannot find that option. Sorry! As I said I'm very new to this.

407 Proxy Authentication Required
Set avast! to: Direct Connection (No Proxy)

Avast GUI -> Settings (upper right corner) -> Update (left menu in pop up) -> Set "No proxy" and "Always connected to the internet"
