Avast vs. Youtube
« on: August 16, 2011, 04:58:29 PM »
Okay, so I downloaded the latest update of Avast. Now I can't view any embedded or linked Youtube videos and I can't visit Youtube itself.  Any suggestions? Thanks.

Avast shouldn't have any problems with youtube, I certainly don't.

Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

Are you getting any errors when trying to view youtube videos ?

Have you been having any other computer related issues as there is one piece of malware that when removed breaks your ability to connect to it ?

So far it's Youtube only.  With every embedded video and the site itself I get "404 not found, nginx".  I'm only using Avast.  Everything was fine until I downloaded the Avast update yesterday.

It isn't just what you are currently using, if you have had a previous AV that can have an impact if remnants of it are left behind. Even if there were remnants, which could cause a conflict, it is unlikely that they would present themselves like that, e.g. a 404 error.

A 404 error isn't avast as if it were blocking youtube (which it doesn't as it just scans and alerts to infection) then you wouldn't even get a 404 error.

Can you give an example of a link you can't access and I can try that link.
So I'm at a bit of a lost as to what is going on.
