web virus detecting
« on: April 12, 2011, 09:33:34 AM »
Hello,
Yesterday my free avast edition automatically updated from 5 version to new 6. My PC has OS windows 7. Once time installed new version, it was impossible to use internet. Pratically every adress I tryed to open, a message from Avast appeared to me saying that "site was potentially dangerous" or found a virus/malware and it was blocked. The same web adress (youtube, Facebook, libero.it) I opened without any problem with previous 5 version.
Someone could help to me ? Thanks a lot.

There were some FPs yesterday.
This has been fixed already with 110411-2 yesterday.
Please update your VPS.

many thanks for your reply.
Only one last question. If I can update it manually, where I can get this 110411-2 ? Or it will be updated automatically when I'll turn on my PC again ?
Thanks.

You're welcome..!
If you don't know how to update manually, just restart your machine. ;)

I use avast Internet Security, but assume it is the same on avast free.

You can either right click on the icon in the system tray then go to Update -> Engine and Virus Definitions
Or you can open avast, click Maintenance, make sure the update tab is selected, then click the update engine and virus definitions button.

As Asyn said, you can also just restart the machine :)
