Avast DSN Created..VRDB Related..? (Win2kPro)
« on: August 04, 2003, 07:02:38 PM »
Hi All,

noticed a System DSN (Access Driver) in the ODBC Data Source Administrator named Avast4..is this due to the database created via VRDB..? Cheers.

No, VRDB is not created using ODBC.
I think ODBC is used to store info on previous sessions (and maybe some settings ???). If you needed to get rid of it for some readon, I think it can be turned to XML using a switch in avast4.ini.

System DSN you have found in ODBC settings is used as storage of all avast! objects (such as tasks, sessions, mail alerts, scheduler events) except VRDB.

If you dont want to use ODBC you can switch avast! to use XML file instead. If this is the case change value of key Database of INI file from "ODBC" to "XML" and restart all parts of avast! (or computer to be sure ;) )
