"Self connecting" means that the mail scanner would connect to itself, i.e. to the point where it is listening. You deleted the address in the log, is it 127.0.0.1, your IP, or another computer ? Did you change "PopListen" in avast4.ini ?

It is not 127.0.0.1. It actually points to my real email server (pop.cps.inmetrics.com.br), giving a message like:

"Cannot connect to POP server pop.cps.inmetrics.com.br:110, self connecting."

Another detail: i could sent emails successfully. But cannot get those emails from the server.

The full mail scanner section follows:

[MailScanner]
DefaultPopServer=pop.cps.inmetrics.com.br
DefaultSmtpServer=smtp.cps.inmetrics.com.br
ShowTrayIcon=1
UseDefaultSmtp=0
AutoSetProtection=0
Log=20

Is it a real address ? I cannot resolve it to an IP address.

This name cannot be seen outside my internal LAN. But internally this name resolves to an internal IP address.
I am actually using this server name into Mozilla, but without Avast. So this name has been resolved successfuly.
