Pocodot...
« on: April 15, 2011, 02:04:24 PM »
I'm sure the title itself says it all... I have been doing some testing with a fake email account and pocodot account for testing. So far there is nothing to report... But does anyone have any additional information about this site? On youtube this "pocodot" Is being spammed by spam bots stating its a great new social networking followed by user comments guaranteeing the site to be infected.... Now I went there on my virtual and avast didn't show up and malicious items... Basically I was curious if this site was infected because everyone stated it was, and I was confused because I figured the site would be tooken down or blocked if it was worldwidely known it was infected

Thanks so much, I didnt know how to access a site checker or the specific phrase to Google to find one.
Wait, does that mean it is infected, or that it is clean? Are those two different reports? Does that mean this site is shown as infected by only one of the scanners?

Yes, only WOT doesn't like it.

After reading the comments I'm still sorta at a loss.... I do see a massive amount of people who are saying that this is infected but I don't know there credentials or if they truly even know if its malicious or not.
Youtube comments are being spammed with "pocodot" being the topic of the spammed message. It is logical to believe pocodot is doing the spamming but its possible its not. What site that is trying to gain revenues spams?? Very unethical and foolish. Peoples ratings are all bad for this site but I have gain to learn is that its usually a rating set in by either someone previously telling them its infected, or do not like "the rip of" of facebook, where these people were when twitter came out I don't know.... Regardless, Avast! and MBAM have been run on my virtual system and I have used Virus total to scan the site which came back clean.

But Asyn your advise was very appreciated and it seems this site has yet to grown into a respectively and trusted internet site, I'd choose to stay away until they work there kinks and bugs if I was a user of social networking. The risk isn't worth it.
Bots dwell in Pocodot indefinitely I'm sure as I received 30 friends invites within an hour of signing up

Hi Bigbear,

User warn against pocodot, and webrep sites give a low score - only 40 out of one 100 here: http://www.webutation.net/go/review/pocodot.com
It is a YouTube spam bot and could make your YouTube experience annoying. It is a rip off of Facebook.
This pocodot campaign has been going on for weeks now, could be content media viewing frustration is being tolerated ??
Use NotScripts and Better Pop Up Blocker inside Google Chrome and you're no longer be bothered by it,

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!
