[Resolved] Script Shield and Skype
« on: April 18, 2011, 10:27:45 AM »
It seems to me that Script Shield might be causing performance problems with Skype.  I just wondered what experiences other Avast Skype users might be having.

We need some more information from you:

1.   What is your OS, 32 or 64-bit?
2.   What version of Avast did you install?
3.   What product of Avast did you install?  Free, Pro, AIS?
4.   What other security software do you currently have or did you have in the past on this machine including:
- Antivirus (AV)
- Firewall (FW)
- Trial versions of AV, FW and other security programs
- Other security software
- If they were in the past, how did you remove them (the vendor's uninstaller's tool or  another way)?
5.  Exactly what kinds of problems are you having with Skype and Avast?

Thank you.

I run the recent version of skype and have avast! free 6.0.1091 and I have no problems. You might want to check in skype's or avast!'s settings. Try disabling the script shield.

Sorry guys.  Results of my subsequent enquiries show that Script Shield and Avast were NOT responsible for the problem.  It is probably a firewall issue and might be caused by fragmented UDP packets which an attack detection module blocked.

I am very pleased with Avast 6.0.1091.
