Avast crippled screensaver
« on: April 19, 2011, 05:38:45 PM »
Hi,

I searched the forum, but I didn't see any solution. First, please clarify that I am NOT talking about Avast Screensaver.
I have Windows 7 x64. I recently installed Avast Antivirus Pro 6. Since then, my sceensaver does not kick in. I tried resetting the screensaver but no luck. The monitor just stays on.

Does anyone have any suggestion on how to fix this?

Thank you,

GT

What screen saver is this you speak of? Do any of your screen savers work? Hopefully not the same as this thread.

Hi,

No, it's not the same thing. I came across that thread when I did search.
None of the screensavers work, whether default Win7 ones or commercial ones.
They were working just fine until I installed Avast....

Highly unlikely to be an Avast issue unless Avast gave you a pop up warning. Look in your power plan settings. Set your screen saver for 1 minutes and then have your monitor and hard disks turn off in 10 minutes. But if this is a laptop your screen saver will never come one while on battery power by default.
