windows explorer hanging with avast
« on: April 19, 2011, 09:48:25 PM »
when i open any folder have many exe's present like a game folder the windows explorer takes many seconds "6 seconds average" to load and every time i open such kind of folders i got the same slow loading
i think avast causes that kind of windows explorer hanging this problem suddenly disappear when i uncheck "scan when executing"

such problem wasn't in the 1st versions of avast 5.0 become obvious in later versions of avast 5 and avast 6
ans it was the main reason why i switched to avira

any solution to this problem without having to uncheck the "scan program when executing " in expert settings in the realtime shield ?
thanks in advance

Did you have any other security program before you installed avast? If yes how did you remove it?
OS: Windows 11 64-bit
Webbrowser: Mozilla Firefox
PC Specs: Intel i5-12400f, Nvidia RTX 3050, 16gb ram, 1.5TB SSD(s).

Did you change any settings in Avast? Maybe turn "all packers" on?

do you have the latest avast version?
if so, please execute process monitor, start collecting data, then go that folder which takes ~6sec, then stop logging. Save the report (use "All events"), and send me compressed report file to my email. Thanks.

Please try this.

1. Download a fresh copy of Avast Free 6.0.1091 from this link. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=76488.0
2. Download the Avast Uninstall Utility and uninstall your current Avast. http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
3. Reboot and install the newly downloaded Avast.
4. Report back.

Go into Scan Computer---Scan Now---Scan From Windows Explorer and Change your settings

Under Performance set it to high and check both Cache boxes

Lot at the other settings and adjust accordingly.

What does this have to do with her issues at hand? That is for performing a scan from witin Windows Explorer. That is not her issue. Setting it to high just increases the priority of the scan.

His/her doesn't matter. Getting your problem solved does. Please try my suggestions first. When ever your having any sort of software issues its always best to uninstall and reinstall then go from there.
