Hi lamda!!

I suggest you scan your entire pc  , using a boottable anti malware cd , like the one kaspersky is offering ;

you can get this here ;

http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk

there is also a little tuttorial on this site mentioned above on how to make such a rescuecd and how to use it...

if you still not succeed in making one or using one , here is a youtube link , in wich you are showed , making and using one step by step:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VscIEttkTOk

you will have to raise your pc volume way up , because the sound is kind of crappy....

good luck!!!

I'll have to look a little to the virus type. Be patient.
As far as I found out ATM, NYB infections result from booting up with a floppy??? Did you do that?

Follow this MS-Guide to rebuild MBR.

Use the /fixmbr and the /fixboot commands (fixmbr first) as laid down in the article.

After that, have Avast do a boot-time scan.

Please take the above action and be so kind to report back, if that solved your problem.

If it does not solve it, come back for further assistance.

I doubt the OP has a rescue-CD radily available, he would have tried that first I presume.
The reconstruction of MBR is an easy task when you follow MS instructions.

I believe Partition Wizard (free) can rebuild it for you.  May be easier to use that, but I've not had to use it before.  Others wiser than I may be able to point out good reasons why you should not use the Partition Wizard.

The reason being: why worry with downloading, burning and applying programs you don't really know (and that might, if not properly used, destroy your data) if the trick can be done with Windows tools if you simply follow the above posted link to the MS-Guide?
