sbs smtp scanner
« on: October 05, 2004, 05:41:44 PM »
I'm installing Avast SBS on an SBS server and the SMTP scanner just sits there saying "waiting for subsystem to start"  Exchange is working fine.  Any ideas?

The status changes (well, should change) as soon as first email goes through the avast filter.

This is because the SMTP service loads avast on-demand (that is, postpones the load of the avast module until it's actually needed, i.e. until a first email passes through it).

Hope this helps,
Vlk

Exchange is working fine and there are many emails going through the
SMTP service but the SMTP scanner does not load properly.  The Exchange
IS scanner is picking up viruses on the incoming email rather than the
SMTP service.

Why might this be?

Just to close this thread: reinstallation of avast solved the problem.
