Avast iAVS4 Mirror HTTP Server Blocking incoming emails
« on: April 25, 2011, 09:15:52 PM »
This service is blocking all incoming emails on my SBS 2008 server. Why is it and is it safe to leave disabled?

the why question only you can answer right now..... its like bringing the car to the garage to say it doesnt work but dont give the keys to the mechanic for checking...

why do you think it is the avast service that is blocking the mail? (in other words:  how did you find out it is avast iAVS4 mirror)
what did you do to find the problem or a solution (except posting above message ofcourse)
more info (installation information, event logs, avast logs, exchange logs, stuff like that) would be appreciated to be able to determine any problems...

is it safe is basically also a question you could answer:

do you get a lot of e-mail with viruses attached? if not, then you could take the chance (until the exchange plugin works again) of running without the exchange plugin, the desktop client also scans files
if you do get a lot of e-mail with viruses attached then i would take the chance of the current mail stacking up or not getting delivered if your not sure you dare to take the risque of infection (but it means for your boss a loss of productivity probably).
