In OE you can't rename you can either open or save. Open doesn't work and save comes back with an error. :'(

Bob..   I was talking about Microsoft saying that the cure is to rename the file BEFORE you attach it..  THen when you recieve it rename it back.       lol        What a stupid way to handle things.

Which is exactly what I did in that test I made. However, I, nor any one else, have no way of knowing when and from whom I'm going to get an mp3 file.  Like you said, that's a totally ridiculous solution.

don't know if it is the same thing, but i had a problem once getting  mp3's, can't remember what firewall and anti virus i was using, I think at that point it was a combined package, but i had the same problem you are having and tracked it down to that being the cause of it.

At the moment running zone alarm security suite without the anti virus, and avast I have no problems with getting mp3 in e-mail.

I don't know if you look at the entire Thread or just the last few posts but I did attach lpg.s of the  actual error messages and they have nothing to do with either ZA or avast!.
But thanks for the suggestion. :)

I'm stuck in here... no clue what could it be. I have SP2 installed and since the first day I installed it on my system (XP Home Edition, but now I have it on my XP Pro as well) I didn't have any single problem.

I am using Outlook Express and I just tried to send myself MP3 file. Sent/received without any problems. I even tried the same thing with my SP2 firewall enabled... same thing, no problems.

Bob, did you try to check on Microsoft forums ? I don't have link right here, but I have to search. I used to access those forums through OE news groups. They can be very helpful, and best of all, those are binaries... so it means, you can post some attachments, like screenshots. That could help... just an idea.

Cheers !

Hi Sasha,
My problem isn't in sending and receiving the MP3 file. It's not being able to open or save an MP3 file attachment in OE.

I forgot to mention... I open them without any probems as well. I can save attachment somewhere on the disk and then start it as well as open MP3 directly from Outlook Express (from e-mail)...
