Save Site Blocking list
« on: May 08, 2011, 05:15:58 AM »
Hello, I'm new here. I would just like to ask if there's a way on how to save all the site blocking list I have entered on Avast Site Blocking feature. I have now a lot of list blocked and it's quite annoying for me to input them one by one again just incase I would like to reinstall or do a fresh install on another computer. Is there a way to save the list? Thank you. Any help would be very much appreciated.

You don't say what version of avast you are using, free/pro/ais ?

There is no specific function to save those or any avast settings, this is something that we have been asking for for some considerable time.

Personally I don't think the site blocking is a great benefit because you have to enter the sites individually, you can't import (or export) lists. So I would say that there are better options, use the HOSTS file (or a hosts file manager) or add them to your firewall settings or use your browsers functions to block (firefox with the AdBlockPlus is good).

Edit: Just been checking and they are in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\WebShield.ini (XP location) C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\WebShield.ini (Vista, win7) and this could be saved.

Thank you for your help. This is really handy for now. I took a copy of the Webshield file and save it to my flash drive. Should be better than having them entered manually. Thank you. It's really a great help. Have a nice day. :)
