Hi SafeSurf,
I have AIS paid version and this includes also firewall. I think that 2 firewall can not work together. I prefer AIS firewall. No traces from Norton and Vipre. The notification updates window works. I did a full scan mbam:no infection. Everything is fine now.
Thanks for yuor information and help.

Hi Zyndstoff,
I applied your suggestions regarding the updates in AIS.
Thanks

Hi SafeSurf,

AIS Firewall is designed to run together with Windows Firewall, so it is perfectly okay to activate Win FW. As a matter of fact, in WinXP and Vista it must be turned on. On Win 7 it is optional, but it is perfectly okay to run Win 7 FW and AIS FW together.

That is correct, so it is up to you if you wish to use both firewalls or just AIS.

I'm glad to hear that you have no remnants of your old AV's on your machine and that your MBAM scan came out clean.  So now it appears that everything is working fine for you, which is good news. :D

Please let us know if you have any problems in the future.  Thank you for allowing us to assist you.

Hi there!

Sorry for my very late reply! I discussed my problem in a german avast forum and do not see the post to this post.

I go a new way to test the not notification for a new update of avast. I installed windows 7 32bit on a virtual system to test avast 6.1.000 but there is now notification.

I think i will update avast on all system manual and will see if there will be a notification on the next update.

regards Robin

Seems like I'm going to have to learn my German quicker than I thought!  :o  I leave that up to the other 2 in this thread.  ;D

My question is why not update to a more current version of Avast than 6.1.000 which is now out dated?  The current official release version is 6.0.1091, but there is also a pre-release (beta) version 6.0.1119 available as well.

I did update to the stable version 6.1.1091. I do not want to update to a beta version.

I hope the problem has been resolved. I will observe whether there are problems again with the next update.
