red circle on avast a-ball icon

hi
i have installed avast 4.6 but when i power pc there is a red circle on avast a-ball icon so i reboot pc many times and avast return to work
what to do?
my SO is windows Me

Before we can help you, please provide more details like:
Do you (or did you) have another av installed? If so wich one?
What other security (related) software do you have installed?
Is your system clean from malware?

i don't have installed another av but i have installed a firewall (outpost 1.1)
my system is clean from malware

Try a repair of Avast.
control panel > software > add/remove > Avast > repair

there is no such thing as 'reformatted'. What exactly did you do? Did you setup the security correctly before going online?

Eddy, I think she probably did a System Restore (she said she is using Windows ME). If so she could use avast! External Control to do an uninstall then try to re-install. My link to avast! External Control does not seem to work maybe you have a working link !
