Problem Using AVAST Pro Trial Version
« on: October 09, 2004, 06:09:55 PM »
Hi Forum ;D

Can anyone help me? ???

I've been using AVAST Pro trial version since 040914 (build: Jun2004 (4.1.418)); VPS file vs:  0441-2, 040810. But today I have no license key so I can't update or anything I'm running WinME on HP 1.5 GHz, Pentium III, 192 SDRAM w/Outpost Pro firewall & Spybot Search & Destroy. I use SBCYahooDSL, but normally shutdown my PC when not in use. Thanks. ;)

Looks like your trial period is over. Now you can buy a key for the Pro version or request a (free) key for the home version. When you have received the key you want, just enter it and Avast will update again.

Licenses for the pro version
License for the home version

note: if you want the home version just enter the key. No need to download the home version. Avast will take care of it after it has the key.

But I haven't even been using trial version a month. Isn't it supposed to be 60 day trial?  :'(

Thanks Eddy Your So 8),

Although I'm a little disappointed not getting to use pro free trial version for time period specified ???; I'll switch to Home Edition - I do love AVAST & am hearing too many good things about it to go anywhere else :P. But, I truly don't understand why my trial was not 60 days as quoted. Could it be something to do w/the new avast updated version 4.5 coming out soon? Thanks again.

The trial should normally be 60 days.

However, if you uninstalled it and reinstalled it, there is an anti-pirate element built in to prevent abuse of the trial period.

You should also check the system date and ensure that it is correct sometimes this is advanced and would have the effect of being beyond the expiry date.

Glad to help, the crash and reinstallation would almost certainly be the problem, you normaly only get about 7 days useage after a reinstall, before having to buy or register for Home.

If you have found that you like the extra functionality and protection of the Pro version, the cost is very good value for money when compared to the competition.

Thankyou DavidR,

I will certainly give the pro version serious consideration after I try free edition @ home.

I'm in between jobs, attending truck driving school as we speak. Do you happen to know...can I use avast on the road w/wireless or satelite connection? Thanks again.

If you are using avast on a laptop, I don't see why not, the only thing would be changing the connection type (if different to your home setup) within avast for when you are on the road.
