Looking up smtp.gmail.com or the socket was disconnected unexpectedly

I use Thunderbird and Goldmine 5.5 to send emails.
In the last weeks I have problems sending emails intermitent failures with the messages above.

I have made a test with the command Telnet

Start-Execute - telnet smtp.gmail.como 587

and received the message
421 concurrent connection limit in avast! exceeded(pass:0, processes:thunderbird
.exe[50])

I have tried to modify the EmailShield.ini with no results.

from values to 50 to 1600. I update the free version to 6.

How can I desactivate the EmailShield ?
How Can I resolve this issue with Avast free version 6 ?

Best Regards

Note : I think the secondary problem may be the total of accounts I have to synchronize with Thunderbird : about 50.

This not happen with prior versions.

It uses either, you just have to enable them in the settings page.

@ OP: You have 50 email accounts that you're checking at the same time?

Well, maybe setting the value to 1600 wasn't good enough?  Try 0 to make it infinite.  Reboot the computer after the change.

I remember that in 4.8 you had to disable the self-defense module before making changes to the avast4.ini file.

I assume that's the same in 5/6, but I don't use them enough to know.

Well Scott corrected my thinking, e.g. if gmail only offered IMAP as its email protocol then using SMTP wouldn't work. So if it accepts SMTP your email account connection settings should be set up that way.

However, you have to uncheck the SSL connection settings for it in thunderbird and let avast take care of the secure connection. So I don't know if your problem is SSL related.

See - avast! 5.x: SSL Problems The Mail Shield may not scan some e-mails - see http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=458. Whilst this mentions avast5 it also applies to avast6.

YESSSSSSssss yesssss yessssssssssss
That's part of the problem.
In first execution in other system I don't take a screenshot, but I think to receive a only-message about SLL or something like that.

IN goldmine client I use a special gmail account configured with the help of Stunnel.
I don't use goldmine client to download emails, only to send.

Perhaps is a matter of configuration.

Please, can you put a step by step modifications to take place ?

Best Regards

I use either. Imap accounts and pop accounts. All accounts need an smtp server for outgoing messages.

Oh my God. I am a simple user. Now I don't know where is the emailshield.ini

Please a step by step. I am lost.
