I update AVs-free to version 6.0.1125.0 and my windows boot crash in aswsp.sys; my workaround was to rename files aswsp.sys and aswsnx.sys for windows will not load at startup.
¿what role do these files?

If you execute WMP, you should get a response from Script Shield to show it is actually functioning.  Then the question is for what other scripted applications and browsers under what conditions (OS etc) does it also function?-I use Opera and have never seen or heard of it working there.  Don't know anything definite about Chrome, FF, IE; haven't heard from other users (or Vlk) lately about how much has currently been implemented for Script Shield.  Certainly seems worthy of you starting a separate thread, though.  :)

it works in WMP, but i swear it was active in IE9 but now it isn't ... is there any usable test case or explaining why / what?

We were discussing BSOD in This thread. In the original post of this thread it referred to crashes.

Were we talking about the same issue in that other thread.

I just upgraded AVAST 6.0.1091 to AVAST 6.0.1125 and WMP11 became red again, I had to repeat the process explained in the thread http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=72405.msg644825#msg644825 as I told in the post you can read in this link.

Maybe AVAST deletes the both entries ? Maybe could you fix it to avoid to repeat the process at each upgrade, please ? Thank you very much in anticipation :)
My configuration : Windows 7 Premium - INTEL I5 2500K - NVIDIA/MSI GTX 1050 TI 4gb - AVAST FREE EDITION 22.5.6015

If it did 'unregister' these dlls then this problem would be across the whole avast user-base with WMP11 and XP (don't recall seeing it on other OSes or WMP versions) and that clearly isn't the case.

So there is more to this than that, system settings, applications installed, .etc and in combination with avast has this effect. But trying to pin it down isn't easy as avast were asking for someone to remote access and see if they can pin down something they can't replicate.

Avast is not doing it on it's own or it would do it to everybody running WMP 11 on XP. It only does it to certain people and it has to be a result of something in the overall setup common to only those people that is at the root of the problem.

Try a system reboot first,

Sometimes it can take up to two reboots for Avast to "kick in" properly after a program update.

If that does not work, try a Repair of Avast. Go To Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs-Click on Avast-Click on Remove-Click on Repair.  Follow the prompts.

If THAT does not work, get a fresh download of Avast from www.avast.com and download it to your desktop or your downloads folder if you have one. (Don't install it just yet.)  Also download the Avast Uninstall Utility here:

http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

Follow the instructions at the URL above.  After doing that, go back to where you saved your fresh download of Avast 6 from the website and install it.  Fill out the Registration form in the Maintenance Tab and you should be done.

It is just emphasising that you select the avast Repair option, you need to scroll down in the small window to see it.

Note: If you have any problems with this new version, please do NOT post to this thread; start a new topic instead. Ideally one topic per issue.

Thanks much

No problems.

I love avast! it's the best antivirus program I've ever used.

Thanks!  :)
