I got a BSOD today caused by aswSP.SYS . And Avast is completely up to date

this is known registry filtering bug in our aswsp.sys driver and it'll be fixed asap

The bug here also gives me the blue scrren and it also locks my laptop up without the blue screen at random times.

are you using a debugger that's saying aswSP.sys is the cause. might need to send a minidump to that person to get it checked out

Have you tried the avast! 6.0.1203 version, which is the latest regular build (released 2011-July-04), this would be different to the avast build in this topic from 18 May 2011.
