Behavior shield+Firefox4/Pandora = Slow?
« on: May 17, 2011, 02:00:57 AM »
Hi,

Ever since updating to FF4 my computer has slowed down considerably. Some of that was due to FF4 using hardware acceleration by default, but after fixing it it's still slow. When looking at resource monitor, I saw that AvastSvc was using around 50% of my CPU. In fact, when I graphed the CPU usage, all the contours on the graph pretty much followed the contours of the CPU usage of avastsvc indicating that this program used most of my CPU resources. This happened especially when I used Pandora, however, it might have been going on at other times as well.

After searching here I found some old threads where people had trouble with the behavior shield so I tried disabling it and indeed my computer mostly went back to normal speed (except FF4 is still a bit unresponsive but my computer is fast again).

Windows 7, 4GB RAM, Dell XPS M1530.

Thanks
M
