Boot scan reports corrupt files
« on: May 23, 2011, 08:02:28 PM »
Carried out a boot scan and Avast reports a couple of corrupt files, which are on my external drive and are part of my system backup. Since all i use the external drive for is backup why would those files become corrupt? Sorry i cannot tell you exactly the files that were reported just that they were part of my backup.

Maybe there were corrupted even before you backed them up? Hard to say without knowing what they were... but could have been some incomplete downloads, files from browser's cache, ...?
Or, the files might not be actually corrupted, just in an archive format unsupported by avast! engine - hard to guess.

I am pretty sure they were from the Temp folder.

I'd say it's quite likely that they are some incomplete / partial downloads then... nothing to worry about.
