A word from a new user - on prices.
« on: October 21, 2004, 02:03:18 PM »
Hello!

I'm a new avast! Home user.

I have searched the forum on the subject below, but found nothing similar. Ad rem:

As ALWIL is a Czech company (hi neighbours!), it knows the reality of post-socialist countries. I mean significantly lower wages, by a factor of 3 or so.

I think that lowering price of avast! Pro by that factor (and without even offering discount for subscription) for Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Russian and Slovak versions would allow you simply to earn more money- from people using currently free versions of your and other av products.
Binding "special" registration code to specific set of languages would allow you not to "spoil" the market.

Have you thought about it?

Why just for these languages?  ;)
What about all other ones (actually, avast runs into more than 10 languages)?  8)

The ones I mentioned are practically exclusively spoken in single (save for Russian in former USSR republics) countries.
You can really control where this versions are used and, therefore, discounts would not hurt Alwil's business- rather exactly opposite.

To add details, I meant discounts on Pro for home users only.
