Fix for ZoneAlarm 5.x hang with avast!
« on: October 20, 2004, 05:49:45 PM »
Hi. Now I have done som testing to get to the bottom of this problem.
After trying to exclude almost evert ZA file from avast! virus scanning I have narrowed it down to these three files:

c:\windows\system\zonelabs\vsavpro.dll
c:\windows\system\zonelabs\vsdb.dll
c:\windows\system\zonelabs\vsruledb.dll

If I remove only one of them from the virus-scanning exclude list then my Win98se system will hang at boot almost 50% of the times, but with all three files excludes I haven't noticed one single hang at all !

I don't know if this could solve the same problem with WinXP and other anti-virus programs as well (reported from ZA 5.0 and onwards), but...

I hope this will aid ZoneLabs and Alwil in locating the problem, and I also hope ZoneLabs will include avast! anti-virus among the program ZA can monitor too.
