Why does it keep coming up with
Avast connections timed out,Do I continue waiting Y/N

Please provide more details.

- What OS?
- What version of Avast?
- What vps version?
- When/where do you see this error?
- What other security software are you using?

How do you connect to Internet? Dial-up or DSL?
Did you configure avast > settings > connections (advanced)?
You must configure both timeouts in avast settings (Internet Mail) and into your email account settings (generally, advanced tab).
I suggest you let 600 seconds of timeout...  ;)
