Virtual PC using Windows XP
« on: October 20, 2004, 09:50:39 PM »
I have not been able to determine if avast will run on Virtual PC 6 using Windows XP as an operating system. Can avast be used to provide virus protection on this configuration?

Thanks

Sure. VirtualPC perfectly simulates real hardware,so its just Windows XP dependant. And avast! works great in Windows XP. So it should work just fine. A bit slower than on real hardware, but it should work.

For sure, just testing  ;)
But, anyway, I think if Virtual PC can emulate Windows XP environment, avast! will be able to run there  8) Anyway, just a guess, I'm not sure.

Ok yes it will as I run it daily.  Be sure you have OS X set to allocate VPC as much of the system memory as possible for best performance

I thought that with Mac OSX you didn't have to allocate memory because it does dynamic allocation.

It Does, However on some eariler versions of OS X (10.0, 10.1) it is not very effective but if you have Jaguar or Panther you should be fine.
