Server Execution Failed when i uninstall
« on: June 12, 2011, 07:17:02 AM »
Hello,
when i uninstall avast my WMP 12 shows me this warning.
and it doesnt work at all,
even if i install avast again the problem remains.
it is sure from uninstallation because if i make a system restore
about an hour ago,WMP works fine.
i ve tried all three methods i found in here (stop/run,uninstall/install WMP)
but it doesnt work,
i need to uninstall avast but i cant because i ll have this problem with WMP.
now its ok but i have to uninstall avast for a while,

i tried both ways, from control panel and with the uninstall tool

welcome to the forum.

what os and what version of avast you using?

it should work with the uninstall tool to remove avast, but why are you so sure it is avast that cousing this problem? not the wmp?

http://www.avast.com/en-se/uninstall-utility.

this is the tool you should use to uninstall avast.

do you have any screen shot where this two are conflicting with each other please post them so we could check in to them if there is something that have to be fixed from avast point of view.

good luck.
Windows 8.1 amd a10-5700 64 bit

im running windows 7 x64 and avast is 6.0.1125

im sure that it is from avast because WMP plays normal until i uninstall avast
its allright until i uninstall avast,i cant explain better

i tried the uninstall utility but it happens the same
my problem is not that i cant uninstall it,
i can both ways (utility, control panel)
the problem is that whenever i uninstall avast
i get that warning from WMP.
if i install it again, the problem remains,
all i can do is system restore to previous point

You might want to try removing avast with this application. It says 6.0.1000 is supported but it should work for 1125

You could try a repair of Avast by using Windows Program and Features Uninstall then Repair

Avast has its own uninstaller if needed and it is not recommended to uninstall security apps with third party uninstallers, uninstall and re install of windows media player should fix the issue.

I also hsve the same problem.after avast uninstallation windows media players says server execution failed.

I have all the methods on the net without success. If I  restore to an earlier point the WMP player just works fine.

Any solutions guys
