What's going on?
« on: June 15, 2011, 01:29:25 PM »
Since last version of Avast 5 i had problems with avast under my old pc with Windows XP that maked me to move on to another av solution. I have another pc in home an high end pc with Windows Seven x64 and avast runs like a charm. Whats going on guys? Youre only focusin on Windows Seven development and XP is unsuported? I wanna know why avast messes and crashes constantly windpws xp pcs. I will keep recomending avast to my friends but only to the people who have new pcs with Windows Seven. For people with netbooks with windows xp or old pcs i will recommend other solutions. I cant recommend last version of Avast to people with windows xp since it crashes pc constantly an corrupts the os. I wanna congratulate you for your amazing work with the x64 version for Seven but im very dissapointed with the last versions of avast with windows xp. Its not an isolated case is a generalized problem. Sorry about my poor english..

Just a thought: maybe those frequent users reporting no problems here in this topic have been updating Avast from previous versions for a long time, and the problem arises when installing anew the latest Avast version (or one of the versions released during the last few months)?

Or this might be happening with "new" Windows XP installations, where "Validation" / "Registration" and all critical Windows updates are not yet applied?

I don't have any statistics about installations failing with older Avast Setup releases in comparison to Avast 6.x Setup, but it "seems" that several (unrelated?) installations are somehow failing (BSOD, crashing and/or words like those).

Again, just a thought of a possible current situation, with no real objective data to back it up.

Well having been involved in the early beta and pre-release versions, I have done a clean reinstall fairly recently.
