Avast causes Outlook 2007 to stall
« on: June 14, 2011, 08:55:14 AM »
Hi.
I use OL 2007, Win 7 32bit, and the newest avast free.
Since a couple of days when I start Outlook and its fetching mail, it stalls when a mail contains a virus. Outlook stalls and cloese itself, and all starts over. The message:
[Chest] Mail\Inbox\<Subj: United Parcel Service notification #63249>\UPS_Document.zip

I reinstalled avast, no change.
Anyone has an idea?

Thx
Mike

This is happening to me as well, I have to delete the email using the webservice to get Outlook to run without locking up.

Windows 7
Avast Free
Outlook 2007

There is a recent piece of Malware that is affecting Outlook.

Don't know that it is causing your problem but I just pass the information along.

You might want to try scanning using MSFT Standalone System Sweeper if nothing else identifies any relevant Malware.  MSSS can be installed on a CD and/or USB Thumb Drive.  You just boot from the CD and/or USB Thumbdrive and MSSS will come up.  You then just run it.
