Avast detects itself as PUP?
« on: June 19, 2011, 10:11:58 PM »
I just installed Avast for the first time in a while, and it is among the best decisions I have ever made. So, I make a new scan (custom) for scanning memory. I enabled scan for PUPs. I scanned, and when it finished, it said 1 threat was found. I check it out, and it says avastsvc.exe is a Potentially unwanted program. I'm deeply confused.  ???

custom scan with selected  "scan memory"  often give some mysterious results, you are not the first one.... search the forum

i recomend using the default quick / full scan with default settings

Hi Malware killer,

Beside quick/full scan, you may try with boot-time scan...
