Thank you all for your help.

@Selen your solution solved my initial problem.. AIS stopped saying that the latest version is "weeks" ago.

But now I have another problem, the VA does not want to update itself. When I try to update gives error! The AIS does not download the correct database and is like "the package is corrupt." Sometimes I can download, but it's pretty rare that happens.

Once I disabled the Firewall Avast and it updated normally, but after re-enable the update did not come back. I did the procedure again and did not feel right anymore.

RESUME:

The initial problem on the database, saying it was outdated and updated has been resolved.

The problem now is to connect the AIS to the internet / server. You can always "the package is corrupted" and I can hardly download a new update.

RESUME:
The problem now is to connect the AIS to the internet / server. You can always "the package is corrupted" and I can hardly download a new update.
Try the following:
1_ Disable ALL firewalls, including the one from Windows.
2_ Disable ALL Avast shields (permanently) by right-click over Avast's tray icon.
3_ Clean your web browser cache.
4_ Reboot.
5_ Wait a couple of minutes (or even 5) after seeing Windows main GUI. Do not run anything.
6_ Connect to the Internet.
7_ Wait a couple of minutes (or even 5) after seeing Windows main GUI. Do not run anything. Do not try to manually update.
8_ Open the main GUI of Avast on "Summary -> current status". Is your database updated? On the same tab, when was your latest attempt to update?
9_ If the update is not what it is supposed to be, change the "connection" settings in Avast.
10_ Wait for at least 15 minutes. Do not attempt to update again immediately.
11_ After the update (whichever the result), restart all Avast's shields and reactivate your firewall(s).
12_ Reboot.

13_ Report back here, whichever the result.

BTW, have you tried with Avast STABLE FREE (not beta, not AIS) as suggested?

Disabling avast self defense module allowed me to update definitions (I also got the "corrupted package" message).

Now definition version is 110628-0, but Avast says its date is old for some reason...

Dear, ady4um.

I did the procedure and did not work. I still have problems to update my AVAST.

I did your suggestion about the FREE Avast, because it is not my interest. But, then try some more things, if they deem right, have recourse to their method.

Thank you for your help.

@Maccara

I corrected the problem of being updated and showing that there is a restoration of windows with. I did what @selen said and it worked perfectly. Except, of course, about these updates and "the package is corrupt."

Dear, ady4um.

I did the procedure and did not work. I still have problems to update my AVAST.
Can you report what exactly went wrong? Which step? What exactly you did?

The point of using the stable free version (for now) is to find out what's the problem. The stable version should at least update the "normal" database updates.

The problem you currently have is very "basic", in the sense of the type of functionality that is not working for you. If you can't correctly update the database, there is no point of using "extra" features. Once you resolve the problem, you can upgrade to AIS and configure it as you wish/need.

I am starting to think that the problem is "too basic". If it were a bug, some of the programmers would had already suggested to try the beta and report back a specific log. The problem may be a corruption of files (run scandisk under Windows Safe Mode during the night). Or some firewall is still partly blocking you. Or some previous security tool was not actually completely uninstalled (while you think all is "clean").

By this point, you "might" be better making a backup of DATA and drivers (NOT programs), and performing a clean install of Windows, validating/registering, updating ALL windows updates, rechecking the validation/registration, and only *then* installing software (Avast and the rest) and copying your data back.

I might be completely wrong, and the suggestion of starting all from zero is probably "too much", but all step-by-step suggestions are answered with "doesn't work" with no concrete actual specific feedback.

Can you try your computer connected somewhere else or using a different connection/method? If you have, say, a router, can you skip it so to test the connection? Have you tried different settings under "connections"?

Have you checked if your connection is working correctly (independently of Avast)? I don't mean checking "web".

Have you tried to update Avast's database using Windows "Safe Mode with Networking"? And what about testing the connection (independently from Avast) under this mode?

As i said, I might be wrong, but this seems, IMHO, something "too basic" that has been "missed". Maybe some Avast "expert" can start revisiting your steps one-by-one, and with specific feedback, maybe...

Please, upload (attach) the avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\Setup\setup.log
(or the shorter C:\Users\All Users\Alwil Software\Avast5\log\Setup.log).

If the file is too big for the forum, post the last 400-500 lines of it.

Code: [Select]
20:13:19 min/fil  GetNewerStampedFile:DSA_FileVerify(C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\_asw_aisI.tm~a01300\onefile), error: 0x2000000B
20:13:19 min/pkg  Download servers.def, servers.def.vpx failed with error 0x20000011

I don't know about error codes in Avast. Maybe one of the developers needs to post here about error: 0x2000000B. The other error 0x20000011 seems to come from the server, but the first error seems to be related to your "temp" folder?

I also see that you keep troubleshooting with AIS instead of the more simple Free Stable version. If you are not going to follow suggestions and REPORT BACK, then how would you expect to solve this? Really! First solve this very important issue with Avast Free Stable, and only *then* try AIS (when you know how to solve it).

Have you checked the "troubleshooting" settings? Like for example, "load Avast service after other system services"?

What would happen if you start into Windows Safe Mode and delete that specific "temp" subfolder/path (the ones starting with "_asw*"?

Then (after those 2 suggestions) start normally, and wait for automatic database update (do NOT force it).

Come back and report feedback.

@ady4um the problem is that  there  ↑↑↑

At the moment I can not format, as you suggested. In a few days I'll be doing it for sure. The AIS is annoying me with it up to date and say that a database is much older than the current one. Not to mention that now also accuses the current version of the program like the previous one.

Now, with these images, if you have any solution would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

I was not the one that suggested that. I am still trying to give you step-by-step procedures to find a solution, instead of having to wipe out everything.

Please read again my suggestions. At least, if you want to avoid reformatting.

Have you make a Scandisk/Chkdsk during the night as suggested?

Is your Windows calendar/clock correct?

The update problem is a "basic" one, in the sense that if you can't solve it, then it won't matter if you use the Free Stable edition or AIS.

Using the Free Stable edition at least reduces the potential problems, since AIS has additional modules and interactions.

Now that there is a new Free Stable just released, please download the Free Stable installation program (instead of AIS). You should USE the Free Stable edition for a few days, until the problem goes away completely. Only *then* upgrade to AIS.

I'll say it again: Start in "Windows Safe Mode", and run the "clean complete uninstallation" tool. You may skip uninstalling Avast using the control panel normal method. Use the specific Avast tool in Safe Mode.

Then reboot once again into Safe Mode, and delete any "temp" folder or file like "*asw*" or similar(the "*" means "any character", just to be clear). According to your report, the "temp" folder is located under "C:\WINDOWS\TEMP".

Now reboot into "Normal Mode" and install Avast Free Stable. Reboot. Please, do NOT force any updates. Leave it as "automatic", even if it says that a new database is available.

Change the troubleshooting settings to "Load avast services after other system services". Save and reboot after the change. Still keep update mode in "auto", and do NOT force updates.

Is you connection "too slow"? Try the dial up settings in Avast. During the troubleshooting steps, please reboot after these changes.

Wait several hours. Do not try to force updates. If after, say 13 hours, you still can't see the database updates applied, reboot again, and wait. As I said, you need to use the free edition for a couple of days to test the updates successfully, so please do NOT upgrade to AIS just after the first attempt (either if successful or failed attempt).

Please report specific changes and behaviours. Ask if something is not clear.

It is indeed possible you have discovered a valid problem, but it seems at least strange that the exact same problem is not spread. So even if there is a problem with Avast (or their servers), we have to receive specific feedback; either to find the problem in Avast side, or in your specific system.

I know what's going on!

The Setup file located in \ ALWIL Software \ Avast \ Setup is being modified and saying that the last update of the day is 110,616 to 1 (always that day). I changed the 110616-1 to 110705-1 and everything is normal. But I do not want to do it every day ... Or every new update of the database.

You know what to do to modify this file? There is something in the records of the PC that make this change always pro 110616-1?

The problem was solved version of the program as well. Since the version of the program depends on the date of the database.

Predictably, formatting the hard drive did not solve my problem. The Avast server is returning the wrong data on the database to my program.

Predictably, formatting the hard drive did not solve my problem. The Avast server is returning the wrong data on the database to my program.

Since you formatted and installed the latest Avast (FREE STABLE I hope), could you post the new log file as you did a few days ago?

Maybe someone from Avast Team can check the log, including the specific server you are connecting to.

BTW, something is strange in your previous post:

Quote
The Setup file located in \ ALWIL Software \ Avast \ Setup

AFAIK, that is NOT the default location of the new clean setup files (specially, using the FREE Stable version).

That path might be used if you have been updating since Avast 5.x. If your current path is "Avast software" (not "Alwil"), then maybe you are fine. If you were/are still seeing that old path (even if it is not the current one), then your previous uninstallations (all those times you thought you uninstalled) were NOT performed correctly.

Finally, you were asked to provide specific feedback, instead of just saying "it doesn't work". So we can't know what happened with the "temp" files, or several automatic updates using the free stable edition, and so on.

Formatting all should had resolved all, but evidently it hasn't.

We indeed need someone from Avast Team, and the content of the new logs.
