I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, service pack 2 with a 32 bit operating system.  I have TrendMicro Titanium now, but it keeps hanging up on different files when I run a scan.  It is a real pain.  I'm thinking of switching to the latest free version of avast! and removing TrendMicro.  Do you think the free avast! will give me protection as good as TrendMicro Titanium?
Thanks for your opinion, it is much appreciated!

Not telling the OP I just wondered as somewhere on Kaspersky website (which page I can't recall) they mentioned norman uses their engine :P

Those problems you have are common in cloud based av's. You should try Avast free, you'll see 163 071 344 members are not crazy. Only my opinion...

Trend micro, McAfee, Norton, Kaspersky or what ever you name it . These software use your computer more than you do...

So stick with Avast or AVG or MSE or Avira.... And they are free to use........

I had a very, very bad experience with AVG. AVG let two trojans in and couldn't deal with them. avast! did and I will stick with avast! from now on. When I brought this Dell home I downloaded avast!, uninstalled McAfee, then installed avast!. I won't even lower myself to write anything about Norton or Kapersky or Avira. I would recommend the OP to do a clean install of avast!.
Dell Inspiron, Win10x64--HP Envy Win10x64--Both systems Avast Free v17.9.2322, Comodo Firewall v8.2 w/D+, MalwareBytes v3.0, OpenDNS, Super Anti-Spyware, Spyware Blaster, MCShield, Unchecky, Vivaldi Browser and, various browser security tools.

I think you will be better serviced with Avast (even the free version).
The core protection is more solid, and there will be no system slow downs.

But, it won't be enough. No one solution is.
You could: add extras to your browser (hopefully Firefox):
   https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-PT/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/
   https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-PT/firefox/addon/noscript/
   https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-PT/firefox/addon/wot-safe-browsing-tool/
   https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-PT/firefox/addon/betterprivacy/
   https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-PT/firefox/addon/ghostery/

Or you could go further and use a radical solution like a FW/HIPS:
   http://www.online-armor.com/
   http://www.comodo.com/home/download/download.php?prod=firewall

All of the above will work peacefully with Avast.

Or you could go with Avast IS.
