Suspect Javascript File
« on: October 24, 2004, 01:15:57 AM »
I'm running Avast Home Edition 4.1.418 on Windows XP Pro.  I ran a complete scan of my local hard drive and Avast reported that Opr02itc.js, a file in the cache of my installed Opera browser was infected with a Trojan.

I tried to "move the file to chest" and "delete" but in both instances Avast said "This action cannot be performed on this computer".  I am logged on as an administrator and have never had this problem with Avast or any other program before.

I went into the cache folder to check the properties of the file, and after finding the file and right clicking on it the properties said the file was now modified.  I don't understand what a java script file is.  Can I delete this file manually without doing any harm to the Opera browser?

After checking the properties of the javascript file I ran a second scan on the cache folder of my Opera browser and Avast did not report the file as infected.

Should I delete the file or just leave it alone?
Thanks for any insight into Java Script files!

Clear your Opera's temporary internet files (cache).

Some sites use javascript for functions/navagation, etc. The cache is temporary, just clear it.
