New computers have started coming in, need info
« on: June 27, 2011, 09:12:10 PM »
We have several hundred XP computers on Avast Managed 4.8.
We have been waiting a very long time for the newer version for paid business customers to come out.
Now, we are starting to get our new Win7 replacement machines to come in, some are laptops going to home users.
What will be the available upgrade paths when the new Avast products finally come out?
Can we install the 4.8 managed version on the new computers or will we need to wait and install nothing until the new version comes out?
Thanks.

From what I've heard, we'll need to remove 4.8 and install the new version of avast for the clients when it comes out so if I were you I'd just put 4.8 on the new computers and then remove/re-install the new version when it's released.

I don't believe there will be an "upgrade" task to run on the clients to get them on the new version unfortunately.

I hope they get everything set soon.
Keeping my supervisor happy and having to keep coming up with excuses for almost a year while waiting for the new version has not been easy after convincing her to purchase a 3 year license.

Hey man, I'm in the same boat.  We've all been waiting a while and are keeping our fingers crossed that soon they'll have a new release.

The RC of the SBC is out, so hopefully it's not too far down the road.  We'll see how it goes!

SBC is not designed for "several hundred XP...". Only when you mean several = 200 or max. 300 PC's. I prefer using stable product before beta's or RC. Especially in case of security software...

Install 4.8 managed version until Avast 6 connector for ADNM will released. Install nothing is suicide, when your computers are connected to internet... :-)

Actually, they will not connect to the internet and will not be put into production. They will just sit and wait for awhile.
