Avast Version 4.5 problem

I use XP home with SP2 and Outlook Express. After changing to Version 4.5 of Avast I noticed that the email scanner is scanning emails that I preview in Mailwasher Pro. I have 10 email accounts that MWP checks and it did not do this previously. It is not a big deal because it does not download the whole message and script of sorts is not in the preview pane. I only delete and blacklist my spam. I don't know if this is intentional or not for the new beta version 4.5?

avast! is scanning all mail traffic (POP3/SMTP/IMAP). So if program uses such transfer protocol it will be checked by avast!.
I installed Internet Mail provider just to have additional layer of protection (in case if i'm hit by a mass mailing worm),because i use web based mail :)

What do you mean?
Isn't avast! using Internet Mail provider to scan emails anymore?
Or, like you said, avast! scans the email ports if you're using web mail?

No,i wanted to say if some mass mailing worm attempts to spread mail via its own SMTP engine using default port it will be most likely blocked by Internet Mail provider.

I am also a Mailwasher user.  I like the new version of Avast very much, however I would like to be able to somehow "exclude" Mailwasher from the email scanning process by Avast.  Is this possible?

Avast 4.5.498 Still does not retain settings from the avast4.ini file.
Each time there is a program update, all settings are lost.
Please fix this problem it's getting annoying.

Same here, no problems at all... and best of all... all providers that I left started before I rebooted my system, are active next time I boot my system.

I seem to be having trouble getting the exclusion of Mailwasher to work.  I tried entering the path of Mailwasher to the exclude list but that did not work. If anyone has any suggestions, please advise.   :)

What do you mean by 'did not work'?
Why should you add it to avast! exclusion list?

Eddy has suggested to him to put MailWasher into avast! exclude list, just because petrus2 doesn't want avast! to checks his mails while they are still in MailWasher...

Reading whole thread would help Technical, hehe  ;)
