NEWB with issues...!!!

Hello all...   thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide with this "problem":  

I had already installed and used the free version... so, about three weeks ago, I purchased three, one-year licenses/subscriptions for AVAST.  However, I am now receiving AVAST pop-up notifications that I need to register the product within the next seven days as the "free version" will expire in 7 days.  I follwed the instructions when I received the licenses 3-weeks ago ago, but it seems the registration didnt take or hasnt gone thru properly. I have tried several times to register again, but the instrcutions given do not coincide with the new screens I am seeing for AVAST registration.  PLEASE HELP...!!!

Here is the situation:
1. instrcutions say:  double click on the “License.avastlic” file... but we can find no such item to click on!!!

2. instructions say:  Double click on the avast icon and choose the “Maintenance” tab from the program interface. Click on the “Subscription” option and then click on “Insert license file”. Navigate to the license file saved in step 5) and then click OK. Your license file will be inserted automatically to activate the program.  again --- we can find no such item to click on!!!

PLEASE HELP...   AS OUR NEW AVAST MAY SOON EXPIRE...!!!

The email I received after purchase does not specify or identify the info you mentioned... just says it is a file to download that is size 90.8 MB and available at a particular link.  But when I go to the link, I get this message:

Did you purchase avast! Pro or avast! IS..???

Also, I received a notification (while trying to complete the download) that said:  "the version you are downloading is OLDER than the version you already have. Do you want to uninstall the NEWER version?"...    it would not allow the 'new' download to continue --- I was only given 2 choices:  either cancel the download or uninstall the loaded version.

I do not understand what is happening or how this could be...  how is the "free version" NEWER than the 3 licenses I purchased 3 weeks ago?  I am totally confused and almost at the point of wanting a refund.

Any directions/instructions would be greatly appreciated!!!

The "free version" is currently installed...

I have a friend coming over later today (for my 4th of July bar-b-q party) and he is quite knowledgeable about these things --- I will ask him to also have a look at it for me.

1. Download: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe
2. Uninstall the free avast!.
Follow instructions here: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
3. Install AIS.

Good news...!!!

We were able to get the AVAST! actually up and registered and running properly...!!!

Seems all systems go at this point...!!!
