You can't really call a virus the most dangerous. But to answer your question the best that I can, sality seems like a pretty popular (I am not saying it is the most dangerous) virus right now. It is a patching virus and infects as many executables as possible, causing them not to work properly or at all. In my opinion the worst kinds of viruses are the types of spyware and rootkits that steal your personal information or banking information. Also, I saw a very nasty Trojan agent/downloader that gave my friend about 120 infections. Let's just say that he was in between antiviruses . Also you can't really have a 'best antivirus'. There are too many different kinds of infections and also programs update and protect differently. But, I have had very good luck with avast! and not so much with Norton or AVG.

Yes, the rootkits are really dangerous...what's funny that sometimes you get them without even noticing or realising that it is there....until AVAST! tells you about a hidden rootkit file object and you start to panic~

Talking about Mac viruses, apparently there's more and more of them as well. Apple makes people believe that "they're safe because there is way more Windows viruses that Mac, and even if so, only a few." People really do believe this stuff.
NO OPERATING SYSTEM IS SAFE FROM MALWARE.
