Not waving, drowning
« on: September 26, 2011, 12:31:23 PM »
Avast 6 found 2 trojans on my W7 Home Premium; SP1 machine. Unfortunately I allowed the suggested actions (Send to vault and boot scan on restart) without recording the names of the viruses. Now I can open almost nothing. I can't use any browsers, so one forum suggestion of downloading an online scan seemed good; unfortunately I can't get one to install. I started with Trend Micro via usb stick on another PC. It got half way then stopped due to an "internal error". Next Kaspersky, which just hangs, doesn't install either. I've tried with Explorer to find the vault location in Avast with no luck. Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks, I'm trying to follow. I made the disc OK, but my computer doesn't show any BIOS screen at startup; it opens Windows straight off. How would I overcome that?

There is no need to make a disc - Just follow these instructions

OK do you have windows 7

If so go start > All programs > Accessories
Right click command prompt and select run as Administrator
In the black box type in the following

SFC /scannow
then press enter : Note there is a space between C and /
