If I read that right and that's what you doing, then I don't know if that is possible.

It isn't.
We already told him in another topic.
So this should be solved meanwhile.

So you are trying to use Sandboxie in the avast! manual sandbox?
No. I had Sandboxie installed. If I call Sandboxie for a sandboxed browser. Fine OK. But if I call Avast Pro for an Avast Sanbdboxed browser (I haven't touched or called Tzuk's Sandboxie at all...) I get error messages pop-ups and what it seems to be interferences. So, it's like having 2 AV programs, 2 won't work correctly together. So I decided to remove Tzuk's Sandboxie. Everything is fine now 8)

I can say avast! Sandbox is very well descripted and you made a good choice for it. I find sometime other sandbox program very hard to understand or use. ;)

Thank you indeed but how many people are reporting a slowdown and loss of resources. I used MS' Process Explorer to show that it is the AVAST service that causes the slowdown. Looks like a memory leak or excessive memory useage. On Windows XP Pro SP3 and I have just tried the "slowdown patches" but not the other patches. I lean towards falling back.

VaporTrail,

I am another one of those XP PRO SP3 users who fell back to 6.0.1125.

I'm also thinking of rolling back to that version. Maybe avast! is being a little too thorough with its scanning lately, I don't know; too many modules for XP systems without large amounts of RAM?

Thanks. I was speculating really. It just seems to me avast! is chewing a few more resources than it used to on my computer.

I did try one of those patches, but it didn't seem to make a whole lot of difference.

I'll wait and see what the next version update brings.

Trying the patches in the hope that it might have some effect isn't advisable as the reason/s for the patch must exactly match your problem and software mentioned in the patch information.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Then I will have to wait for a program update and hope the situation improves.

fmarka,

What I don't understand is what changed between the latest two releases... my XP PRO SP3 laptop took to the first 6.0 release and every update thereafter with no discernable problems until the last one, which made me roll it back one version.

Hi, I just purchased a new Asus 1215B. The first thing I did was uninstall trial Antivirus, downloaded and attempted to install Avast Version 6.0.1203.0 But I get a 'An Error 0 (00000000) has occured. Last performed operation was: spawning', message. Any suggestions?

It would probably be better to start a fresh thread for this problem - the expert help is more  likely to spot it that way.

If you do a forum or google search you will find similar problems discussed.

The starting point I think is going to be to make sure that all remnants of both avast and the trial antivirus are fully uninstalled using the dedicated uninstall utility for each of them. You are best to run them in safe mode I believe.

See a list of uninstallers here (thanks to Pondus) - Uninstallers for Security Software   http://thewebatom.net/uninstallers/security-software/

Then install a fresh copy of avast.

Remember to reboot after each uninstall and install operation.
