windows firewall in XP with avast
« on: July 06, 2011, 03:18:06 AM »
I have had a two day battle trying to get comodo firewall out of my pc, after a crash that wouldn't let me do anything. It kept reinstaling itself.Anyway its out now.My question is windows firewall good enough with avast free and winpatrol.Or should I be using some other firewall in my XP  PC.

I would say that the short answer is No as the XP firewall has zero outbound protection.

Any malware that manages to get past your defences will have free reign to connect to the internet to either download more of the same, pass your personal data (sensitive or otherwise, user names, passwords, keylogger retrieved data, etc.) or open a backdoor to your computer, so I feel outbound protection is essential.

I never faced too many issues trying to install Comodo firewall and Defense+.
Maybe you can get some help on Comodo forums.
What is this crash? Is there any error message?
