[Resolved] Avast AV X Comodo Firewall
« on: July 07, 2011, 06:44:10 PM »
Hi Guys,

I have a doubt. I use the free Comodo Firewall and also the free Avast AV. I am fully satisfied with the two but ... always a but ... I noticed that Windows "claims" that there is a conflict between the two, as you can see in the image below.

http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/4279/comodoxavast.jpg

I believe that this conflict in relation to Anti-spyware can give a problem, or not? If I am right, what are the changes I should do to avoid this conflict.

Thank you

Sorry about that. The OS is in Portuguese.

What is said in the first screen is:

Several anti-spyware programs report that they are activated and updated.

On the second screen you can see that Avast and Comodo are activated.

Regards.

No, as there usually is no conflict.
Still don't know which conflict you're talking about..??

When you have 2 diff AVs in the same PC, it is recommended to take one of them out that's correct in your opinion?

So, in the same way there are two diff anti-spyware programs in my PC (Avast & Comodo) as detected by Windows. The question is, these two diff programas are going to have any sort of conflict when detecting a spyware?

Sorry about that. The OS is in Portuguese.

What is said in the first screen is:

Several anti-spyware programs report that they are activated and updated.

This is acceptable to the Windows Action Center (WAC), to have multiple anti-spyware reported in the WAC.

On the second screen you can see that Avast and Comodo are activated.

Yes as avast has integrated anti-spyware functionality and is also rated as an anti-spyware, comodo, defence+ to me is a bit of a weird one as it is more of a HIPS function, but it does use signature detection, so I guess that the WAC also considers it to have anti-spyware capability.

However there shouldn't be a conflict between comodo firewall with defence+ and avast, provided that you haven't installed the comodo AV module.
