Local Area Connection needs repair
« on: July 16, 2011, 11:38:13 AM »
Since updating my Avast Pro last week I am experiencing intermittent problems with my LAN on waking up my Vista Business 32-bit machine

 - Access is Local only
 - an Unidentified Network appears in Network and sharing Centre along with my "real" network.
 - LAN Diagnose tells me my IP address is invalid (it is a preset IP address)

I have to reset LAN before I can connect to the internet and I have to assume it was the Avast program update that has put me in this situation as I have had no problems with my LAN before and my network setup has been running happily for several years.

I have been looking at Microsoft Forum for assistance but there is nothing recent.  All the old posts about having to reset LAN seem to be pointing to Ethanet adaptors and on looking through Device Manager I find Avast has a hidden ethernet device so I come here in hopes
