Hello

I had the same problem.
However, updating to 4.5.495, it was fixed.

Well if they fix for you, they automatically fix it for paying customers too (Home and Professional share the same core and capabilities)

Of course, RejZoR...but that's not quite how I meant it.  :)

putty, do you also use XML storage?
Please check if the file data\avast4.xml is not read-only.

Thanks
Vlk

Hi, there is that file and the read only is unchecked.

I have exactly the same problem as Negeltu... and what's even worse, it's not just Network shiled that's affected, but also P2P shield and Instant Messaging...  ??? I started those providers prior to rebooting my system... every single time I log back on to Windows, providers are terminated, and only my STANDARD shield, Internet mail and Script Blocking are started and running...

Ah, yes... latest build here: Nov2004 (4.5.495)

Any idea on how to fix this, would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers !

Interesting.... My P2P provider won't stay active either.  It is doing the same thing that the Network Shield was doing.  hmmm

My instant messaging provider has been active ever since install.  I will try shutting it down and then starting it up and rebooting to see if it remains active.

Are you guys all using the xml storage?

Thanks.

Hmm... Instant message provider works fine for me.  So for me it is only the P2P provider and Network Shield(Which Vlk fixed).

One interesting thing I noticed though...

If I open on access protection control and shutdown ALL the providers one at a time by pressing terminate buttons.....  then click OK....

Then reopen on access protection control... and just start ONE provider... like say... Internet Mail provider... then ALL of the providers start just from me starting ONE provider.  This seems like strange behaviour to me.

This behavior (or bug  ???) was being discussed here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=8016  ;)
