Screen-saver Task
« on: October 28, 2004, 11:20:07 AM »
Hello

Screen-saver task start to scan form the top of Drive-C every time.  It doesn't remember the last scaned point.   :'(

OS is Win XP Home SP2.
I don't think this task is so old that it forgets something.

Does anybody have the same problem ?

This is not a problem. This is the way it should be imo. Screensaver is only active when the system is not being used. Between the running of the screensaver you use the system and therfor the disk content is changed. So if the scanner resumes from when it stopped the last time it will skip files which may be infected.

Actually, it isn't. Screesaver should really continue from where it stopped the last time.
Are you sure it really goes from the start? I mean, is it possible that it e.g. continues from the beginning of the last folder? (if it's a big folder, such as Windows, it may be a lot of files...)

Also Iso-G, do you have the latest build (4.5.497)?

Am I right if I say that there is the change that it skips files, untill the entire disk is scanned and the scanning starts again from the beginning?

It's not a change, it has been so since the release of avast 4.0. At least I think so... :)

Did anybody say that it had been on Iso-G himself ?   >:(
Yes...  I know I am older than 4,000 years old.   8)

By the way, it is not only on 4.5.495 but also on 4.1.418, 4.5.494 and 4.5.497.   :'(

On 4.5.495 ( last night ) , I had screen-saver task scan from the top of Dirve-C to a folder in Drive-D.
Then after longer than 20 min, it started to scan from the top of Drive-C, again.

And now I made sure that 4.5.498 has become worse.
See the images.
The top of "sst01.png" is like the image in my mind.   ( Who is laughing ? )
Those two pictures were on the same screen.
Still Screen-saver task doesn't want to remember the last scaned folder.

Note: A user posted this problem on my web some days ago, so that I tried to make sure of it. ( But every Japanese is not so old such me.    ;)  )

OK, I think I fixed the problem with the last path "remembering"... in the next update, avast! should really continue from the top of the last folder, when interrupted.

So, the build 4.5.504 still doesn't remember the last folder for you?

For it's working.
It starts scanning all folders in alphabetical order and resume the next not fully scanned yet. Windows XP SP2.
