[RESOLVED]: Avast Conflict With Ghost 10
« on: July 21, 2011, 08:05:23 AM »
Last night I went to run Ghost 10 to make a back up and once it had commenced it stated that that the slider was disabled because Disk Performance Counters were disabled and that I should run diskperf.exe -? to get info on enabling them.

After some Googling my general impression was that these counters are permanently enabled on Windows XP, so it didn't make sense.

I started disabling programs one by one via task manager to see if I could find some conflicting program with no luck.

I then disabled all shields via the Avast icon in the task bar and found that Ghost worked correctly.

I then enabled the shields again and the problem returned.

So opened Avast and disabled the first shield (standard / file whatever it's caleld) and tried Ghost 10 again and the problem was gone.

So it seems there is some conflict when running the standard shield and running Ghost 10.

I can post the exact message later when I get home if it's needed.

Last time I ran a Ghost back up was on 17/7 and it did not get this error.
