16 bit application no longer works
« on: July 26, 2011, 09:22:26 PM »
I have an old 16-bit windows application that runs fine on Windows XP (a 32-bit OS) with Avast 4.8.
As you know, XP runs the wowexec.exe emulator for 16bit programs.

On my workstations that run the new BP client, this application hangs and no longer opens.

I've tried disabling 'shields control' for 10 minutes (right click on avast icon in sys tray).  Still no go.

I was able to verify that the BP client was causing the problem by removing it and trying the application again.  Once removed, it works fine again.

Help!

Did you add and exception?

Can you update the application?

Exceptions have been added, and even the shields turned completely off.  Still no joy.

Can the application be updated?  No, the application has no update.  We don't work around our applications to fit our AV protection.  It should always be the other way around.  :)

What application is that? Is it possible to provide that application for testing?
