wording? or what? suggestion
« on: October 29, 2004, 01:33:07 AM »
If I start the scanner, look at settings - exclusions

It states - these settings affect all parts of Avast!

Does that really affect the on access scanning? If so shouldn't it be password protected?

If it doesn't affect the resident scanner then maybe it should be reworded.

I had to post something - I can't find anything wrong with this beta  ;D

I am not 100% sure, but I think it affects On-Access scanner too... we should wait untill someone more familiar with this issue comes to this thread...

Btw, I see you are frog too... hehe, we'll turn these forums into swamp one day...  ;D  ;D  ;D

If I remember correctly, yes, it will be skipped either of the Standard Shield.
I think boot scanning is the only part that can't be affected as the configurations are not read yet at boot time...

Hey, c'mom, I'll road my byke over the frogs  ;D

Well if thats the case - that should probably be password protected.
i.e. Putting c:\*.* in there is just about as bad as turning off - or pausing the resident shield (which is pasword protected).  :o
We'll see what they say  ;)

Thank god we have Sheep around here :)
Exclusions in Settings are global except for On-Access part.
Thats by design. You can set exclusions for Standard Shield seperately.

OK - then I think the sentence should be changed in the scanner settings - because "these settings affect all parts of Avast!" - is simply not true  :P  ;)

They should just add "except Standard Shield" in the end of current text ;)

Hi toadbee:
I guess you would call that a matter of semantics not to be confused with symantec.  ;D ;D

No no no - not to be confused. I mean my machine still works smoothly and I don't even need a munual with Avast!  ;D
